Rs 5 crore is allocated for Kerala’s projected riverbank tourist project, Muvattupuzha

Under the Amrut project, a total of Rs 5 crore has been set up for the Muvattupuzha Municipality’s riverbank tourist development. The town has been working toward a significant expansion of the tourist industry with assistance from the federal, state, and department of tourism development. Muattupuzha has many opportunities for river tourism due to its location at the meeting point of three rivers, according to Municipal Chairman P P Eldose.

The project aims to provide a connection between Muvattupuzha Dreamland Park and the municipality-owned Nehru Children’s Park. The first phase would include building a riverfront promenade from Petta to Kacherithayam and a suspension bridge from Dreamland Park over the Thodupuzha River to Petta, he added.

Eldose claims that Dreamland Park, which is in the center of the city, would undergo renovations to provide additional amenities.

The current park will be split into two sections: one for residential complexes where visitors may stay and unwind, and the other for new attractions, boats, kayaking, a glass bridge, a suspension bridge, and a seaplane that will appeal to both adults and children. The current riverbank promenade will be expanded to include Nehru Children’s Park. The two sides of the river would be connected to Dreamland Park by a jetty and a suspension bridge, he said.

The goal of the second phase is to keep Nehru Children’s Park in its natural state.
