Sachdeva chastises Kejriwal for breaking prison regulations

Citing guidelines from the 2018 Delhi Jail Manual, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has criticized Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for demanding in-person meetings with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

“It is not a common practice to arrange in-person meetings between a state’s chief minister and a jailed prisoner,” Sachdeva said. The Kejriwal administration developed the Delhi Jail Manual in 2018 under Rule 602, which states unequivocally that interactions with detainees must take place over an intercom and glass wall for security reasons.

“When Kejriwal entered jail, he did not list the names of Sanjay Singh and Mann among the 10 expected visitors, causing delays in scheduling their meetings,” the speaker said, indicating that Kejriwal is really utilizing this service.

“Prisoners are kept according to the government manual, and only the court can grant concessions,” Sachdeva said.
