 On the lines of Ganga in UP, a meeting of District Ganga Protection Committee was held to preserve the water flow of Saryu river. In which the officers present have been directed to stop the dirty drain falling in the Saryu river and to stop the dirt spreading in the surrounding areas and meet the local people to make them aware.
Treatment of dirty drains falling in Saryu river In a meeting convened under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Nitish Kumar, the members of the committee told that it is the duty of every citizen to conserve the water of Saryu river. The water flow of Saryu, a tributary of the Ganges in the district, is to be done after the treatment of drains falling in view of its protection. This action plan is in rapid progress. So at the same time, while giving suggestions regarding keeping the rivers clean, the committee said that it has appealed to make people aware not to flow garbage and dead animals in the river and to keep the rivers clean.
How will aarti be arranged at every ghats of Saryu? In the meeting, Chief Development Officer Anita Yadav told about the action plan of Saryu Jagriti Abhiyan that the village Ganga Seva Samitis formed in the villages situated on the banks of the Saryu river would make the local people aware by organizing awareness programs to keep the Saryu river clean and People will be made aware about the aarti in the ghats where Saryu Aarti is not being held. So that it becomes a cultural tradition and people's faith in Saryu river increases and people keep it clean. Cleaning of the ghat of Saryu river under Saryu Jagriti Abhiyan, Renovation/beautification will also be done at suitable places and for cleaning the river, Shramdan/cleanliness campaign will be run on a large scale with the help of NGOs and public. And told that a day before 21st May Yoga Day, on 20th May, a special Shramdaan cleanliness campaign will be run on the banks of Sarju with the joint cooperation of various departments and general public including NGO Red Cross Society.
