‘Scam’ must be removed: Delhi court extends Manish Sisodia’s judicial detention till May 30

In a corruption case involving an alleged excise fraud, a Delhi court on Wednesday prolonged the judicial custody of AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia till May 30.

May 30 is the day set by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja for the CBI and ED to continue their arguments over the case’s charge formulation.

The judge pointed out that the high court is now considering a request to postpone the arguments on the charge.

Sisodia and the other detained suspects were brought before the court via video conference from their respective prisons.

The CBI and the ED had filed bail requests for Sisodia in corruption and money-laundering charges related to the purported fraud, but the court rejected them on April 30.

Following hearing arguments from the CBI, ED, and Sisodia’s attorney, the court has reserved its decision.
