Sources: CRS Submits Report to Railway Board Regarding Balasore Train Crash

According to reports, the Railway Board has received the report from the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS), which is looking into the triple-train tragedy in Balasore, Odisha. The report’s contents could not be determined right away. Senior Railway Board representatives declined to comment on the report’s conclusions.

On June 2, three trains crashed in the Balasore area, resulting in over 1,000 injuries and over 280 fatalities. Near Bahanaga Bazar railway station, the Coromandel Express veered off the main line and onto the passing loop at full speed, colliding with a halted goods train.

The CBI is also looking into the sad occurrence in addition to the CRS investigation. Since the incident, the South Eastern Railway, whose control the tragedy fell under, has had a number of its senior officers removed by the Railways. Initial investigations had pointed to signals interference as the accident’s most likely cause, either due to carelessness or malicious intent.
