Students studying medicine cannot attend courses

According to National Medical Commission (NMC) regulations, MBBS students who did not pass their second year university examinations may now enroll in third year courses, according to a letter sent on Wednesday by the Doctors Association for Social Equality (DASE) to the vice-chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

The organization complained to the vice-chancellor that certain medical schools, including Nilgiris, Krishnagiri, Virudhunagar, and Kallakurichi, were preventing their second-year detained students from attending third-year sessions. They need to be let to take further examinations as well.

Vice chancellor Dr. K Narayanasamy told TNIE, “I have given the institutions instructions to adhere to NMC guidelines. A few students asked to be allowed to retake the university test in the event that their attendance was less than 1%, however this was not possible in accordance with NMC guidelines. It is required that you attend. For theoretical classes, attendance should be 75%, and for practical classes, 80%.
