Supreme Court's 'RTI Portal' started, will help in getting information related to court
The apex court's 'RTI Portal' was launched on Thursday to help people get information related to the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice had said at the beginning of the hearing on a petition that the 'portal' would be launched soon. The Chief Justice said, “Before starting the hearing of the matter, I would like to say that the RTI portal is ready. It will start in 15 minutes. If there is any problem then keep some patience. Contact me if you have any problems. I'll look into that."
 
Law students had requested in the petition
A bench headed by the Chief Justice was hearing a petition filed by law students Aakriti Agarwal and Lakshya Purohit, requesting the apex court to launch a portal for the online filing of RTI applications. The bench comprising Justice Hima Kohli and Justice J.B. Pardiwala is also included.
 
Till now applications were given by post
The Supreme Court had said on November 11 that the 'online portal' is "practically ready". The applications filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act will be answered through the 'portal'. Till now, RTI applications regarding the apex court were sent through the post.
