Teen kills mother in Maharashtra after being enraged by her text message; police say he “doubted mom’s character”

In the Palghar area of Maharashtra, a 17-year-old boy is accused of fatally axing his mother because he had doubts about her character. The teenager apparently lost his cool when he saw his mother texting someone while they were eating supper.

According to a police spokesman, the event happened in the night between Sunday and Monday in Vasai township’s Parol neighborhood. Sonali Gogra, the boy’s mother, is 35 years old, and according to Inspector Ashok Kamble of the Mandvi police station, the two often argue about it.

On Sunday night, the youngster was eating supper when he saw his mother texting someone and became irritated. The official said that he then brought out an axe and struck her with it.

He said that no other family members were home at the time of the occurrence.

He said that after being seriously hurt, the lady was taken by ambulance to Bhiwandi’s Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where physicians certified her dead and sent the corpse for autopsy.

According to the police, an accusation of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was filed against the suspect who had not yet been located.
