The BJP claims that an officer violated the standard code of behavior

A senior IPS officer’s direct engagement in the BJD election administration was the subject of a petition filed by the BJP with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday.

A memorandum accusing the chief electoral officer of election manipulation was presented to the ECI by a BJP delegation, which was headed by senior party leader Samir Mohanty.

The BJD poll administration is allegedly being observed by an IPS official via district superintendents of police (SPs), according to the BJP.

“We respectfully draw your attention to the serious misbehavior committed by police and district administration officers in openly endorsing the ruling party and undermining the goals of a free and fair election,” the document said.

The document claimed that the district police is not considering complaints about BJD’s anomalies since they are seen as biased actions. It also said that SPs and IICs have the officer’s prior consent before registering opposition-related FIRs.

“We have asked the ECI to move the IPS officer out of state as soon as possible until the elections are over,” Mohanty said.
