The BJP claims that officials violated the MCC when they “accompanied” Pandian to the hospital at SCB Medical College

The commissioner of Twin City police, the commissioner of transportation, and another IPS official were accused by the BJP of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), and the BJP knocked on the Election Commission’s doors on Tuesday.

The BJP delegation, led by the party’s former state head Samir Mohanty and others, claimed in a memo to the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Odisha that 5T chairman VK Pandian was accompanied by transport commissioner Amitabh Thakur and IPS officer Vineet Agarwal when he visited SCB Medical College and Hospital to meet the victims of the Jajpur bus accident.

“We don’t object to Pandian visiting the hospital to see the victims. Instead, we applaud it. Why the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack police commissionerate gave him protection and a police escort is unknown, however. Since Pandian is a regular BJD party worker and not even an office-bearer, the police commissioner had to provide an explanation for the unlawful use of police and security vehicles, according to the saffron party.

The party also questioned why Pandian, who had visited the hospital with Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Souvik Biswal, was accompanied by the transport commissioner and another IPS officer.

Additionally, the BJP delegation sent a note to CEO Odisha accusing BDA officials of violating the MCC. It claimed that in flagrant violation of the MCC required for the party in power, the agency temporarily appointed three DEOs.
