The Himachal Pradesh section of National Highway 205 has been closed owing to a landslide near Bilaspur

Authorities reported that a landslide has blocked National Highway 205 (NH 205) in Dakesh in the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. A light motor vehicle and two trucks, according to what they stated, were among the vehicles that were damaged in the landslide.

“NH 205 is completely impassable at Dakesh as a result of a landslide. There was damage done to two trucks and one LMV. A single road from Darlamod to Beri that goes via Kharsi is an alternative option, according to a tweet made by the HP Traffic, Tourist, and Railways Police on X (which was previously Twitter).

This morning, rain-related accidents have also caused some of the other highways to become impassable. The Tutikandi-Phagli bypass is stopped at Kanlog, according to the Shimla Police; the Cart Road is closed near the Edward School in Shimla; the Mehli-Badagaon-Shoghi is obstructed near Beolia; and the Shimla-Mandi NH 205 is blocked near Hiranagar.

During this time, Himachal Pradesh is still being affected by the wrath of the monsoon, which has led to landslides and flash floods. On Saturday, there was yet another landslide that was said to have occurred in the Bilaspur area. Since the beginning of the monsoon on June 24, the total number of deaths in the state that have been attributed to rainfall, flooding, and landslides has reached 223. It has been reported that 223 people have lost their lives in the state of Himachal Pradesh, while 295 more have been wounded. “As many as 800 houses have been damaged completely, and another 7500 houses have been damaged partially,” the Revenue Minister for the state of Himachal Pradesh, Jagat Singh Negi, stated on Saturday.

The section of National Highway number 5 that runs through Himachal Pradesh has been temporarily stopped owing to landslides at Chakki Mod, which is located near Parwanoo in the Solan district of the state, according to police statements made on Saturday. The authorities went on to say that the process to restore the area is now under progress.
Thursday marked the reopening of the highway to lighter traffic; however, the road was once again closed on Friday owing to landslides, as reported by the police.

There are still over 200 routes around the state that are blocked as a result of the severe rains and following incidences of landslides and falling debris from hills, according to the authorities.
Over 200 highways throughout the state have been shut down, and restoration efforts are already under way. Additionally, over 200 electrical supply systems have been halted. According to State Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi, “Our teams and officers are in the field.” This statement was made on Friday.
