The SC approves the mention of the Railways’ demolition campaign in Mathura before the Allahabad High Court’s Chief Justice

The liberty to petition the Allahabad High Court to contest the action was given to persons impacted by the railroads’ demolition effort close to Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday by the Supreme Court.

A bench made up of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra took notice of the argument that there was a need for haste since the high court was closed today and the railways were moving through with their demolition campaign against allegedly unlawful structures.

 

The settlements close to the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Uttar Pradesh are being demolished in this case. Since the 1800s, they have existed there.The notice of demolition was the subject of an ongoing injunction lawsuit. During a short mention, a lawyer lamented that the high court was closed and asked the supreme court to schedule the case for hearing today.

 

The CJI said that the petition may be brought before the Chief Justice of the high court.

 

“You are free to approach the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. The CJI requested that you go before the high court.
