The world community is ignoring the “genocide” occurring in Gaza: Priyanka Gandhi

Leading Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra denounced the conduct of Israel in the Gaza Strip, calling the “genocide” a “horrendous precedent” and a “great shame” in human history, without specifically identifying Israel.

The general secretary of Congress mentioned occurrences of bombings on hospitals and reported reports of torture against physicians in Gaza in a social media post. She also expressed worry about the “oppressive regime” in Israel receiving funds and weapons.

Following the October 7 strikes, Israel and Hamas launched an ongoing battle that has resulted in rampages across the Gaza Strip and a “humanitarian crisis” inside the enclave.

“What the international community has allowed in Gaza will go down in history not only as a great shame for the whole of humanity, but as a turning point for the human race,” Priyanka Gandhi said on the social networking site X.

The “entire nation” is “begging for help,” but no one is intervening, according to her, since the world is “blind” to the “genocide” taking place in the Gaza Strip.

“Being blind to genocide as it is carried out with impunity, turning our backs to the merciless slaughter of thousands of innocent children, refusing to step in while an entire nation starves and begs for help, while hospitals are bombed, doctors tortured and humiliated, and patients allowed to die, enabling an oppressive regime by offering its ships our ports, fueling its inhumane rampage by providing it with more and more funding and arms – all this has now set a horrendous precedent,” she added.

If voices are not raised against it, Priyanka said, everyone would have to pay a “unimaginable price” for this.

“Every justice, human, and international etiquette requirement has been violated. If we don’t speak out and defend what is right now, humanity has been bled and everyone of us will one day pay an unfathomable price for it,” she said.

Notably, since the war began, the Congress party has continuously shown strong sympathy for the Palestinian people.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) adopted a resolution in October of last year endorsing the rights of the Palestinian people and urging a truce in the area.

The party has also denounced the Hamas assault, insisting that violence of any kind will never lead to a settlement.

Following Hamas’ enormous terror strike on Israel on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of over 1200 people, the kidnapping of over 250 people, and even the sexual assault of civilians, the fighting in Gaza intensified.

Israel responded by launching a fierce counteroffensive in the Gaza Strip that was aimed at the terror groups of Hamas.

According to the Times of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the conflict will go on until Hamas was “destroyed”.

In a media statement, Netanyahu said, “We’re continuing the war to the end.” “Until all the goals we set are met: destroying Hamas, releasing our hostages and removing the threat from Gaza.”

Nonetheless, the increasing number of civilian casualties resulting from the Israeli airstrike and ground operations has angered human rights organizations and the Arab community.

Over 29,000 Palestinians, including over 12,000 children, have died as a result of Israeli bombardment, according to the Gaza health ministry, which is managed by Hamas.

According to the UN, the Israeli assault has caused almost 85% of Gaza’s inhabitants to be displaced, leaving them in severe need of food, clean water, and medication. Additionally, 6% of the region’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

In fact, experts from the UN have called Israel’s conduct in Gaza “crimes against humanity.”

at the meanwhile, South Africa is suing Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for allegedly “committing genocide” in Gaza.

Al Jazeera stated that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) instructed Israel to take “every measure possible to avoid genocide” while also securing humanitarian relief, although not ordering a “immediate ceasefire.”
