There were attempts to prove the teenager wasn’t driving the Porsche: Pune chief of police

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said on Friday that efforts were made to cast doubt on the 17-year-old juvenile who is accused of crashing his Porsche automobile into a motorcycle and killing two people, claiming that an adult was really operating the vehicle at the time.

The head of the municipal police department informed reporters that an internal investigation had shown mistakes made by several officers in filing the case, and that they would face consequences for destroying evidence. He denied that the young person inside the police station was given “preferential” treatment.

“It has been evident to us throughout our inquiry that the minor was operating the vehicle, and we have already gathered all pertinent chronological proof. For instance, the item in the security register indicates that the minor took the automobile with him when he left the home,” the man said.

The police chief said that it is verified that the minor was operating the vehicle based on CCTV and technological data.

The youngster, the son of real estate mogul Vishal Agarwal, was operating the Porsche at the time of the collision, according to eyewitnesses, he said.

When the car struck and killed two people on Sunday at approximately three in the morning in the Kalyani Nagar neighborhood of the city, Kumar claimed that efforts were made to demonstrate that the adult family driver was behind the wheel and not the teenager.

He said, “We are looking into these claims and will prosecute those who made them under Section 201 of the IPC, which deals with the destruction of evidence.”

When asked about blood samples, Kumar said that the minor was taken to Sassoon Hospital on Sunday morning after the registration of an offense. “The blood report is not the cornerstone of our case, but there was a delay in taking blood samples as they were collected at 11 pm,” he said.

He added that the juvenile was fully aware that driving while intoxicated would result in this kind of offense and that lives would be lost, and that the case has been filed under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not equal to murder).

To be sure that the samples and DNA results were from the same individual, more blood samples were taken as a precaution and sent to a different facility for analysis.

He said, “The process is being expedited, but we have not received the blood reports.”

Section 304 A (death by carelessness) was applicable in the original FIR, but the same day, section 304 was added since the crime justified its application, he said.

A “watertight” case is being prepared by gathering evidence from all angles. The investigation to determine if there was any effort to tamper with or destroy evidence has been given to an ACP-level officer.

Additionally, he said that special attorneys would be hired to vigorously represent the police side in court.

In response to criticism over errors and claims that some police officers were “managed,” Kumar said that the police have always had a strict stance.

Therefore, it is inaccurate to claim that the police were under pressure or that they were negligent. But an investigation is being conducted to determine why section 304 was not included in the first place,” he said. The top police officer denied claims that the child was fed pizza and hamburgers at the police station. “The ‘pizza party allegation’ is untrue,” he said.

He said, “If such things come to the fore, strict action will be taken against the concerned police officer,” in response to concerns that some witnesses had been coerced.

Early on Sunday morning, two software developers riding motorbikes in the city were tragically struck by a Porsche that was reportedly driven by a 17-year-old who the police said was intoxicated at the time.

The adolescent was then brought before the Juvenile Justice Board, which ordered him to write a 300-word essay in exchange for being given bail.

The JJB on Wednesday returned the kid, son of real estate mogul Vishal Agarwal, to the observation home until June 5 in response to an outrage over swift bail and the police’s review request.

The father of the adolescent has also been detained by the police.
