Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat and corporation receive the Swaraj Trophy Award

The state’s top-performing local bodies will receive the Swaraj Trophy Awards 2023–24, which were announced on Thursday by Local Self-Government Minister M B Rajesh. The best district panchayat went to the Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat while the finest grama panchayat went to the Valiyaparamba grama panchayat in Kasaragod.

In the category of best district panchayat, Kollam district panchayat ranked second. The best block panchayat award was shared by Neeleswaram in Kasargod, Perumpadappu in Malappuram, and Vaikom in Kottayam.

The state’s finest corporation title went to Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The finest municipality title went to the municipality of Guruvayoor. In the category of best municipality, the municipalities of Wadakkamcherry in Thrissur and Anthoor in Kannur ranked second and third respectively.

Under the Swaraj Trophy, the state government presents monetary and social rewards to local organizations that exhibit exceptional performance across the board.

A purse of Rs 50 lakh is awarded for first place, while Rs 40 lakh and Rs 30 lakh go to second and third place, respectively.

CM will give out the prize.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will give the award at a gathering on Monday as part of the two-day Local Self Governance Day celebrations at Kottarakara Jubilee Hall in Kollam.
