In an ongoing shootout that continued on Wednesday in the Rajouri district’s Kalakote region, one Army officer was killed and three jawans of elite para forces were wounded.
Although official confirmation was still pending, there are rumors that three members of the elite 9 Para were injured and taken to a military hospital, while an Army officer from the 63 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was slain.
The encounter began in the morning between terrorists and combined troops of the Army and J&K Police in the Bajimaal region of Dharmsal in the Rajouri district, according to Inspector General of Police (Jammu Range), Anand Jain.
The IGP said that it is believed that two terrorists are imprisoned within the cordon.
Following specific information that there were terrorists in the forest, an Army and police force established a cordon and conducted a search and seizure operation in the region.
Terrorists in concealment opened fire on the security personnel as the united squad moved closer to the probable location.
A Pakistani terrorist was slain in the Rajouri district’s Budhal region earlier on Friday. Security personnel said that a significant amount of weapons and ammunition had been taken.
