Two arrested for stealing a phone

Phagwara: Two miscreants have been detained by the Lohian Khas police on suspicion of stealing a woman’s cell phone. The suspects, according to investigating officer (IO) Sukhdev Singh, are Jaspreet Singh, also known as Jassu, who lives in Raiwal village in Lohian Khas, and Gurjant Singh, also known as Bagga, who lives in Jamsher village.

Mohalla Dhomana, Ward No. 4, Lohian Khas resident Kiran reported to the police that on May 22, she was riding home from work when two bike-borne individuals stole her iPhone. Upon hearing her alarm, onlookers pursued and apprehended the culprits. They were turned over to law enforcement. According to the IO, a case has been filed against the suspects under IPC Sections 34 (committing crime with common purpose), 411 (dishonestly accepting stolen goods), and 379-B (snatching). OC

Detained for pilfering sand

Phagwara: A resident of the Shahkot hamlet has been detained by the Nakodar police for stealing sand. Gora, a resident of Parjian Khurd village under the Shahkot police station, was identified as the suspect, according to investigating officer (IO) Rajinder Pal Singh. The police were informed by Manpreet Singh, the mining inspector from Nakodar Circle, that the suspect was apprehended at Pandori turn checkpost while operating a tractor-trailer that was filled to the brim with 500 cubic feet of pilfered sand. According to the IO, a case had been filed against the suspect under Section 379 (stealing) of the IPC and Section 21 of the Punjab Mines Act. OC

One arrested for injuring a lady

Phagwara: A villager has been detained by the Shahkot police on suspicion of invading a woman’s modesty. According to Investigating Officer (IO) Gurnam Singh, the suspect is Jaswinder Pal, also known as Chhinder, a villager from Nawan Qilla. The IO said that a complaint was filed against the suspect under the Indian Penal Code’s Sections 354 (criminal force to women with purpose to insult her modesty), 323 (voluntarily inflicting pain), and 506 (criminal intimidation). travel agent who fled was apprehended

Phagwara: A travel agent who had been considered a proclaimed offender (PO) and had been evading capture for the last four months has been apprehended by the Shahkot police. The offender has been identified as Gurdev Singh Dhillon, also known as Bittu, a native of Variyana village in Jalandhar, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Amandeep Singh. He is being after for alleged betrayal and breach of trust. The accused was designated a PO on January 24 after a case was filed against him in 2021. OC

Gutted possessions, cash, and house

Phagwara: On Wednesday night, a destructive fire in Silkiana village, close to Phillaur, damaged Chaudhary Mohammad Pardhan’s home. The fire damaged valuable items, including a bike valued over Rs 8 lakh and Rs 85,000 in cash. It was not yet possible to determine what started the fire. After a great deal of work, Phillaur fire fighters managed to contain the fire.
