Two further robbers were detained, and two firearms were taken

Two additional members of the gang that fired at a police party on Sunday and looted gas stations in the neighborhood at gunpoint have been taken into custody by the police. Notably, two of these accused were hurt in an altercation and were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accused has been named in many criminal proceedings. Six cartridges and two handguns have been found on them.

Speaking during a news conference, SSP Surendra Lamba said that on February 15, three masked men had stolen Rs 50,000 at gunpoint from a gas station in the hamlet of Poonge on Phagwara Road. The accused had earlier stolen a bike from a man and assaulted him close to Nasrala.

According to the SSP, on February 17, the thieves had taken money worth Rs. 15,000 at gunpoint from another gas station in Dasuya. SSP Lamba said that SP (D) Sarbjit Singh Bahia is in charge of a special police squad that has been established.

The two accused opened fire on a police team on Sunday near Taragarh village. When the police returned fire, the two were injured, taken into custody, and given medical attention at the municipal hospital. They were recognized as Akash Kumar, a resident of Dhogdi Road Bhatta Colony, Noorpur in Jalandhar, and Mohan Kumar, also known as Mandeep, a resident of Guru Ramdas Nagar, Kalia Colony in Jalandhar.

Following this, according to the SSP, two additional people were detained based on information gleaned from the apprehended accused’s inquiry.

They were recognized as Umesh Kumar, alias Ricky, who lived in Jalandhar’s Noorpur Colony, and Sam Khan, nicknamed Sam, who lived in Hargobind Nagar. He added that before to stealing the Poonge village pump, the suspects had conducted a reconnaissance. There are already several active suits against them.
