Watch Anurag Thakur’s Special Message for Young Voters Ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls, “Mera Pehla Vote…”

In a special address on Tuesday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur asked Indian citizens—particularly young voters—to participate in the process of ensuring that the next 2024 Lok Sabha Elections are successful by casting their ballots.

The Union Minister encouraged people to vote and to inspire young voters to vote for the nation’s growth by sharing a music video from the Election Commission’s “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” campaign.

Thakur’s speech follows PM Modi’s praise of the Election Commission of India’s Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye (my first vote for the nation) campaign, which encourages first-time voters to cast their ballots in huge numbers, in his 110th Mann ki Baat address.

“As the nation prepares for its biggest festival of democracy, I urge all of you to join the ‘MeraPehlaVoteDeshKeLiye’ campaign and encourage young voters to exercise their democratic right,” Thakur wrote on X. “Our Honourable PM Shri Narendra Modi ji gave a clarion call in his recent Mann Ki Baat address.”

In his last Mann Ki Baat speech before to the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi advised India’s young, who would be voting in their first general election this year, to cast their votes in big numbers.

“Remember that your first vote should be for the country,” he stated, pleading with well-known figures and influencers to inspire first-time voters.

The prime minister said that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) may be implemented in March, as it was in 2019, in reference to the anticipated publication of the election timetable at some point next month. The Lok Sabha elections are anticipated to take place in April or May.

Governments are requested by the Election Commission’s MCC guidelines to refrain from using official events or publicly financed venues for any purpose that might be interpreted as providing political or media exposure to the governing party.
