Watch: BJP Leader Dons Footwear Following Party’s Win in Madhya Pradesh, for the First Time Since 2017

Days after the saffron party’s historic victory in the MP Assembly election, Ramdas Puri, the district unit chief of the BJP in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, wore his first pair of shoes in almost six years in front of former MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Puri had made a vow to go barefoot until his party formed a government in the state.

Chouhan said in a video clip that Puri refused to return to wearing shoes even after the BJP regained control of Madhya Pradesh in 2020 after the fall of the Kamal Nath-led Congress administration in the state.

Since 2017, Puri ji, a diligent and committed party worker, has abstained from wearing shoes and slippers. He didn’t wear shoes throughout the summer, winter, or rain for six years. He has achieved his goal. We all asked that you start wearing shoes now that the resolution has been completed, the former CM was cited by news agency PTI as adding.

On November 17, Madhya Pradesh held a single round of elections for 230 assembly seats. The results were tallied on December 3. With a clear mandate, the BJP won 163 seats, while the Congress came in a distant second with 66 seats.
