What’s open and closed on election day

With its seven parliamentary constituencies—Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, and South Delhi—slated to cast ballots in the sixth round of the Lok Sabha elections on May 25, the nation’s capital is getting ready for voting. Elections are also held on the same day for seats in Sonipat, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Haryana, which are adjacent.

 

Non-essential government services will be temporarily stopped on May 25 in anticipation of election day in order to guarantee efficient voting procedures.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has ordered that all private schools begin their summer break immediately and expire on June 30 due to the impending elections and the continuous extreme heat in the city.

On election day, banks in the nation’s capital will also be closed. In addition, all licensed establishments and liquor outlets in Delhi would be closed from May 23 to May 25 from 6 PM to 6 PM in order to preserve order during the polls. In addition, on June 4, the day the election results are announced, a prohibition on the sale of alcoholic beverages will go into effect.

The 700 markets in the city will be closed on May 25th, according to a statement released by the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI). On election day, industrial regions will also enjoy a holiday. Nonetheless, once voters have cast their votes in the evening of May 25, retail establishments are allowed to continue operating.

We will keep providing essential services to encourage voting participation. To make it easier for poll workers to go to voting places in the early hours of May 25, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will operate its services. Metro operations will start at 4 AM on May 25. Hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions will continue to operate, with the requirements of public health coming first.

Most commercial spaces, including theaters, hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers, will stay open. To give their staff members time to cast ballots, a lot of these businesses could open later in the day.

Every market in 700 cities closed.

On election day, all 700 of the city’s markets will be shuttered, according to CTI. Holidays will also be observed in industrial regions. After voters had cast their votes in the evening, retail establishments could continue to operate.
