Yamunanagar: Two people detained with fifteen quintals of illicit khair wood

On Monday night, a group from the Forest Department apprehended a utility vehicle and took out fifteen quintals of illicit khair wood from it.

The driver of the car, Gulshan, and Furkaan were apprehended by the crew.

The Forest Department’s Darpur block officer, Anuj Kumar, said that they received reports of many khair trees being unlawfully chopped down from a forest and that the logs were buried in Kansli hamlet.

He said the informant informed them that the smugglers intended to use a utility truck to transport the logs to Punjab. On Monday night, they erected roadblocks close to Muzafat Kalan community.

We motioned for the driver of a utility truck to stop, but he didn’t. Anuj Kumar said, “We pursued the car and used the logs to apprehend the driver and his assistant.

He added that Gulshan Kumar and Furkaan had been identified as the individuals. Following their presentation before a Special Environment Court in Kurukshetra, Gulshan and Furkaan were placed under judicial custody.
