According to Cummins, there are times in T20 cricket when things simply don’t work out

Ahmedabad, May 21: Pat Cummins, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, asked his side to put the crushing loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders behind them and focus on the second IPL Qualifier. He noted that in T20 cricket, there are times when things just don’t work out.

In Qualifier 1, KKR thrashed SRH by eight wickets on Tuesday.

Another chance to reach the championship will be given to the Cummins-led team. The winner of Friday’s Eliminator between the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Chennai will face the San Jose Sharks.

We’re going to make an effort to forget about today as soon as possible; therefore, that’s a positive thing (qualifier 2).

“In Twenty20 cricket, there are moments when things don’t go as planned. We didn’t continue with the bat, despite a few beginnings. Not very adept with the ball. We clearly couldn’t do much with the ball, and we weren’t where we wanted to be with the bat. “We have to put this behind us and move on because we have all played enough cricket and moving to a new place (Chennai) helps us too.” After claiming the wickets of Travis Head, Nitish Reddy, and Shahbaz Ahmed during the powerplay, fast bowler Mitchel Starc was declared the player of the match.

“We are aware of the powerplay’s significance. These two teams have been the most successful while using the bat in a powerplay. In order to penetrate their middle order, we had to take early wickets.

“Head and Abhishek prefer to play wide and with their arms free throughout the competition. We didn’t give them any breadth; we simply attempted to swing the ball. Try the hard length and bowl stump to stump. The bowling department was excellent overall, and the spinners were quite successful.

“Got lucky, I guess; it was nice to see his back early, not always the case,” he added, patting Head’s scalp. Shreyas Iyer, the winning captain, expressed his happiness with the outcome and said that the players recovered well from the impromptu 10-day vacation they received as a consequence of two cancelled games.

“Rejuvenation was crucial to us. when you take so many trips. It’s critical to be in the here and now. We had to maximize today, and we did, because that’s what makes us happy.

It was crucial to see how each bowler rose to the occasion and how they entered the game to take wickets. Every bowler had the mindset and strategy of taking wickets, and they succeeded in doing so. PTI BS APA
