Before the new season, Chennaiyin FC signs India U-17 talent Thanglalsoun Gangte

Before the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023–24 season, Chennaiyin FC signed talented teenage Manipuri striker Thanglalsoun Gangte to a multi-year contract.

The 17-year-old wonder, who caught the eye of Indian soccer fans with a number of outstanding performances for the India U-17 team, joined Marina Machans as the 10th Indian player this season.

Gangte made headlines by scoring a crucial equalizer in the dying seconds against one of the top clubs in the world, Real Madrid, during India’s preliminaries for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup earlier this year. Gangte was a key contributor to India winning its fourth SAFF U-17 Championship title last year.

Gangte has the ability and capacity to emerge into India’s next football superstar, and joining Chennaiyin will enable him to sharpen his abilities and significantly advance his career.

“First off, I want to thank God and Chennaiyin FC for their support of me. If God wills, I’m excited to continue writing family history here at this place. In addition to the club, I am standing in for my suffering relatives and fellow citizens back home. When Gangte joined the two-time ISL winners, he exclaimed with joy, “God is wonderful.

Under the leadership of head coach Owen Coyle, Chennaiyin are presently preparing for the 2018 ISL season after finishing in the quarterfinals of the most recent Durand Cup.
