Brett Lee and Tilakratne Dilshan want KKR to win the IPL in 2024

May 23, New Delhi, India: The Sri Lankan opener Tilakratne Dilshan and former Australian seamer Brett Lee have endorsed the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), headed by Shreyas Iyer, to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024.

The Riders’ impressive run of play has seen them rise to the top of the current season of the lucrative league.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, they placed first in the group stage. They won all 14 games and scored 20 points to take the lead in the standings.

They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad, who scored freely and handily in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, advancing them straight to the final.

The former Australian bowler said that the Kolkata team should have the best result in the league.

“RCB was my first choice; therefore, I was upset when they were eliminated last night. On paper, however, and in its present configuration, it will be difficult to defeat KKR. They are most likely the squad that merits finishing first, in my opinion. They would be difficult to defeat since they advanced straight through to the finals on Sunday, Lee told ANI.

The 47-year-old predicted that the Knight Riders, who have played excellent cricket, would win the lucrative 17th season of the league.

“I believe that playing KKR constantly would help them do well throughout the tournament. RR performed well; they were excellent cricket players. However, they do fluctuate a little bit at the midway point. But when it comes to bowling, batting, and failing, KKR is performing consistently. In my opinion, KKR will win this IPL, hopefully,” Dilshan said.

For the Knights, Sunil Narine has been an important player both with the ball and in the opening slot. With 482 runs in his career at an average of 37.08 and an incredible strike rate of 179.85 through 13 games, he leads the team in scoring this season.

This season, he also scored his first century in Twenty20 cricket during a 109-run demolition of the Rajasthan Royals.

With 16 wickets in 13 matches, he is the second-highest wicket-taker for the Riders when it comes to the ball, giving up runs at a meager economy of 6.90.

Together with the former star of the West Indies, Varun Chakaravarthy, the seasoned player has teamed up to create a potent spin combination.

The mystery spinner is the team’s top wicket-taker and currently ranks third in the current campaign.

In 14 games, he has claimed 20 scalps at a 19.65 bowling average and given up runs at an economy of 8.18.

With a score of 24, Punjab Kings pacer Harshal Patel is dominating the race and he is only four wickets away from winning the Purple Cap.

The two-time champions are already in the championship match, but their opponents have not yet been chosen.

On Friday in Qualifier 2, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play Rajasthan Royals in Chennai. The victor will face KKR in the championship game on Sunday.
