Champions of Germany Bayern Munich Konrad Laimer has completed his transfer from RB Leipzig

Bayern Munich confirmed on Friday that Konrad Laimer, an Austrian international, has left RB Leipzig on a free transfer.

The midfielder will remain at the German champions till 2027.

Laimer’s contract with the German Cup winners ended in the summer, and since January 1 the midfielder has been free to speak with other teams.

Laimer, who was well-known for his constant pressure, played 190 games for Leipzig, making 15 goals and providing 19 assists.With Leipzig, he won the German Cup in 2022 and 2023.

The Austrian was a favorite of former Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann, who coached him at Leipzig, and had been linked to a transfer to Munich for a number of months.

Laimer is Bayern’s first summer acquisition and the team’s first significant addition since sports director Hasan Salihamidzic left the team after being fired by the organization in late May.

On the last matchday, Bayern defeated Borussia Dortmund for the league championship based on goal differential. They had won the German title 11 times in a row.

Laimer will join a star-studded Bayern midfield that already contains fellow Austrian Marcel Sabitzer, Leon Goretzka, and Joshua Kimmich.

Sabitzer, who joined Bayern from RB Leipzig and spent the second half of the season on loan at Manchester United, will return to Bayern.
