Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy advance to the Thailand Open Men’s Doubles Final

India’s top men’s doubles team, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, defeated Chinese Taipei’s Lu Ming-Che and Tang Kai-Wei in straight games on Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand, to advance to the Thailand Open badminton competition final.

In the Super 500 event semifinal, gold medalists Satwik and Chirag from the Asian Games defeated their opponents 21-11, 21-12, in under 35 minutes.

The Chinese combination of Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi, who beat Kim Gi Jung and Kim Sa Rang of South Korea 21-19, 21-18 in the second semifinal on Saturday, will face the world-ranked Indian pair, who are the tournament’s top seeds, in the final on Sunday.

Later on Saturday, in the women’s doubles semifinals, top-seeded Indians Tanisha Carsto and Ashwini Ponnappa will take on top-seeded Thais Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai.

In the quarterfinals on Friday, the Indians defeated the South Korean team of Lee Yu Lim and Shen Seung Chan 21-15, 21-23, 21-19.
