Deepti Sharma's all-around performance helps India defeat the Windies by 8 wickets in the INDW versus WIW match

At the Buffalo Park in East London on Monday, Deepti Sharma's all-around effort helped India defeat the Windies by 8 wickets. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Pooja Vastrakar provided the 25-year-old with plenty of assistance as the Windies could only muster 94/6 after 20 overs.

The Indian bowlers put up nothing short of a sensational display to control the West Indies ladies. West Indies hitters struggled to get going, as Renuka Singh and Rajeshwari Gayakwad both grabbed 1-9 in their four overs.

Hayley Matthews, the West Indies women's team's opener and captain, led the team in scoring with a run-a-ball 34 that included five boundaries. The West Indies lost their first wicket with 18 runs on the board when Deepti Sharma bowled Rashada Williams, her opening partner, for eight off 12 balls. She took Shemaine Campbelle's wicket off the next delivery, taking two wickets in two balls, according to reports.

As West Indies could only muster 94/6 in their 20 overs, Zaida James scored 21 runs off 31 balls at the end of the innings, smashing two sixes in the process.

India lost Smriti Mandhana early for five runs when chasing a modest target, and the score was eight runs in the second over. Jemimah Rodrigues, another opener, blasted an unbeaten 42 off 39 balls while Harmanpreet Kaur smashed an unbeaten 32 off 23 balls as India sped to 95/2 in 13.5 overs to win by eight wickets with 37 balls remaining.

India and the tournament's hosts South Africa have already qualified for the series' final, which will be contested on Thursday.

With this impressive performance, India continued their Tri-series winning streak as West Indies dropped all of their games in preparation for the T20 World Cup. Since September 2022, the West Indies women have not played a T20I match.
