In his last Test match, captain Dean Elgar won the toss and chose to bat first, which proved to be a nightmare for the home team.

David Bedingham scored 12 and Kyle Verreyne scored 15, but the other South African batsmen were all out for single-digit totals.

The other two South African wickets were taken by Mukesh Kumar (2/0) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/25).

Short scores: Kyle Verreynne (15) and Mohammed Siraj (6/15) lead South Africa at 55 all out in 23.2 overs.
