“Excited to be back in the IPL ‘circus’ for Kolkata Knight Riders, Mitchell Starc says it will be a challenge.”

After a nine-year hiatus, Australian bowler Mitchell Starc is scheduled to make his IPL comeback. Starc will be playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after the two-time winners selected him for INR 24.75 crore ahead of the 2024 IPL season. Starc previously participated in the lucrative T20 league in 2015 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Starc has emphasised international cricket for a long time, using the Indian Premier League season as a time to relax and recover before the major international tournaments, such as the World Cup or the Ashes, which have recently taken place. This time around, there will be a T20 World Cup in June in the Caribbean and the US. In order to stay in peak form and be ready for Australia’s biggest event, Starc signed for the IPL auction after a long hiatus.

Starc stated his joy at returning to the Indian T20 league and playing for KKR, the team he was expected to play for in 2018, ahead of the 2024 IPL season. Eight years, I believe. I will be returning to my intended location at KKR in 2018. I’ll return there in order to have the opportunity to wear purple and gold. Regarding his comeback to the IPL, Starc remarked on cricket.com.au, “I guess my memories are few and far between of back in 2014 and 2015 with Bangalore, but yeah, really excited to get stuck in.”

“Clearly, a fresh cast of characters. A group of folks I’ve never met or had the opportunity to collaborate with before,” Starc said. “There are a few international players who I’ve encountered and played against. Indeed, it promises to be thrilling. Undoubtedly, it’s a fresh task. Yes, it will be exciting, however. When it’s the greatest T20 league in the world, things are usually a little bit of a circus. Yes, I am looking forward to it.

With players like Harshit Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma sharing the load, Starc is expected to spearhead KKR’s bowling assault. On Saturday, March 23, KKR kickeded off their season at Eden Gardens against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
