For Six Years, People Have Been Discussing MS Dhoni’s Retirement…: Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has provided some insight into the team’s impending pivotal match against the Chennai Super Kings this evening. On May 18, Bengaluru and Chennai will play their last league game of the 2024 Indian Premier League in hopes of earning a postseason berth.

Du Plessis was so confident before this crucial game.

We have been doing really well over the last several weeks. Thus, we’re eagerly anticipating tomorrow’s match,” Du Plessis said in an RCB-shared video.

Du Plessis then discussed what an incredible experience it would be for him and his squad to play in front of their home fans.

“Honestly, I think it will be a fantastic moment, even if there will be a lot of yellow supporters there as well. It will be at home and in front of our fans. However, we are just pleasant, at ease, and anticipating the match, the Bengaluru captain said.

He also said that he was not surprised by the rumors of MS Dhoni’s retirement.

“Since it has been discussed over the last six years, nothing much has changed with MS retiring. The topic of discussion is what our team does,” he said in closing.

Du Plessis is pleased with how RCB recovered from their six straight losses. “We just take pride in how we’ve changed things. It is really, really amazing. to be the only squad in this tournament to have won five straight games. I’m very proud of it, in my opinion,” he said.

The South African continued by expressing his anticipation for the intense fight. “In addition, looking ahead to tomorrow (Saturday), I’m thrilled about the chance to play our cricket closer to the finish of the competition. Hopefully, the weather holds out and we can continue to play the way we want to.”

Right now, CSK has a favorable position in the IPL standings.

The team managed by Ruturaj Gaikwad will advance to the playoffs with a victory or a tie.

If CSK loses, even a little loss would still give them a chance to qualify. For their part, RCB has to win big in order to get to the playoffs.
