Former Australia cricketer: “Rohit Sharma is currently getting a game because he is captain”

Greg Blewett, a former cricketer for Australia, has questioned Rohit Sharma’s batting performance in one-day internationals. The daring opener hasn’t been playing his best white-ball cricket lately, as he has only scored one ODI century since the beginning of 2021. In the recent months, he attempted to play with an extremely aggressive style and took some significant chances at the beginning of the innings, which didn’t go in his favor.

After the 2021 T20 World Cup, Rohit succeeded Virat Kohli as captain, although because to time constraints and workload management, he had to miss a few series.

Blewett questioned Rohit’s performance and said that India would suffer a similar outcome in the forthcoming ODI World Cup.

“India’s ODI skipper has my concern. I am, truly. Rohit Sharma is just hanging on, and I would have anticipated that India would have taken the one-day leading by now. I simply see India’s situation going south once again. On the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, Blewett remarked, “They always go to these World Cups and they just don’t get it done. I’m just not sure that Rohit is getting it done for them.

India was captained by Rohit when they suffered a humiliating loss to England in the quarterfinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup and fell to Australia in the World Test Championship Final this year.

In the meanwhile, Bleweet said that Kohli had finished serving as captain and that India would not now replace him.

Virat as a ruler? I believe he is finished, and I’m not sure whether you may go back to him at this time.

The ex-Australian cricketer went on to criticize Rohit’s performance and said that he is just playing because he is the captain.

I’m not sure, but I just see that Rohit is barely holding on. Because he is the captain, he now gets a game. And I’m not sure whether that’s the best course of action,” Blewett remarked.

The 2018 ODI World Cup, which begins in India next month, will be captained by Rohit as the captain of the Indian squad. He played the past two ODIs as a specialist hitter, therefore this will be his first ODI World Cup as captain. In the major ICC tournament this year, Hardik Pandya will serve as his assistant.
