“I adore watching this guy play,” said AB de Villiers in reference to Rishabh Pant’s 2024 IPL comeback

NEW DELHI: The former captain of South Africa, AB de Villiers, expressed his happiness as Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant prepared to return for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Pant suffered several injuries in a vehicle accident back in December 2022, which prevented him from playing in the IPL in 2023.

The former right-hand batter expressed his happiness at Pant’s comeback on his YouTube channel, writing, “The Son of Delhi will be watched by thousands around India and around the globe again and by me.” I used to have the number 17 on my back, and he has it on his. This man has a certain something going on, and I really like seeing him perform. His return is much appreciated. Given that he achieved an IPL century, maybe this will be the year for numbers two, three, or even four.”
Pant, a mainstay of the Delhi team since 2016, has a stellar resume, scoring 2,838 runs at an average of 34.61 and over 147 at the end of 98 games. His accomplishments with the bat are impressive, as he has contributed a century and fifteen half-centuries.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the first game will pit the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a South Indian rivalry.
The Delhi Capitals kick off their campaign on Saturday in Chandigarh against the Punjab Kings. It looks to be an exciting start to an exciting season of IPL cricket.
