In the second T20 International against Bangladesh, captain Monank Patel feels that the United States ‘played with a battling spirit’

Houston [US], May 24: In the second Twenty20 International match at the Prairie View Cricket Complex, US captain Monank Patel stated his team performed with a battling mentality against Bangladesh.

 

Against Bangladesh, the US won two of the three games in the series. The US defeated Bangladesh by 6 runs in the second Twenty20 International.

After the game, Monank expressed his pride in the youngsters for pulling off a historic win against the Tigers. He said that Bangladesh’s bowlers made good use of the circumstances to take wickets.

“We played with a battling mentality and were incredibly pleased with the players, even though we felt we were down by ten runs. The bowlers made good use of most of the circumstances when they bowled during the powerplay and in the last five overs, grabbing up wickets. Winning will give us confidence going into the World Cup, according to Monank.

Recap: Bangladesh chose to field against the US after winning the toss. However, their choice did not work out well for them.

The two outstanding batsmen for the hosts, Aaron Jones (35 runs from 34 balls, 3 fours, and 1 six) and Monank Patel (42 runs from 38 balls, 4 fours, and 1 six), enabled them to surge to 144/6. The other two players who were outstanding when batting were Steven Taylor (31 runs from 28 balls, 3 fours, and 2 sixes) and CJ Anderson (11 runs from 10 balls, 1 six).

In the first inning, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam of Bangladesh each claimed two wickets in their respective periods.

Shakib Al Hasan (30 runs from 23 balls, 4 fours, and 1 six) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (36 runs from 34 balls, 2 fours, and 1 six) attempted their best to chase the 145-run mark during the run chase but were unable to do so. Both Tanzid Hasan (19 runs from 15 balls, 1 four, and 1 six) and Towhid Hridoy (25 runs from 21 balls, 1 six) attempted to secure a victory but were unable to overcome the American bowlers.

Ali Khan took three wickets in his 3.3-over performance, leading the US bowling assault.

Bangladesh will play the US in the championship game on Saturday after losing the three-match series.
