IND vs. ENG, Third Test: Dinesh Karthik Gives Dhruv Jurel His Debut Cap, Replacing KS Bharat

In the third Test of the five-match series at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, currently known as Niranjan Shah Stadium, in Rajkot on Thursday, Dhruv Jurel made his debut as India’s 132nd Test cricket player.

Veteran wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, who took over for KS Bharat as India’s wicket-keeper, presented Jurel with his Test cap.

Third Test Day 1: India vs. England

The Uttar Pradesh native, 23, is renowned for his forceful hitting style. Jurel’s performance in 15 First-Class matches has been excellent, with an average of 46.47. Since the Rajkot surface isn’t anticipated to be particularly good, Jurel should be able to transition into the elite division of cricket with ease after his debut.

With a strike rate of 172.73 and a 152 run total from 13 matches, Jurel’s performance in the IPL 2023 for the Rajasthan Royals thrust him into the spotlight.

In2020, Jurel played for India at the Under-19 World Cup and served as vice captain of the team, which placed second behind Bangladesh.

During the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy season, Jurel made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in the first class. In 15 games so far, he has amassed 790 runs at an average of 46.47, with 19 innings of innings totaling one hundred and thirty-three half centuries.

Earlier, Jurel had said that he would dedicate it to his dad.

“Since my father is my father, I would devote my Indian hat to him if I acquire one. I merely talk to him when I’m having trouble solving a problem. “He has always been my hero and he guides me,” he said.

In addition to Jurel, another prolific scorer for Mumbai in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz Khan, a middle-order batsman, made his debut for India.

After England won the first Test by 28 runs, India won the second Test by 104 runs to tie the series.
