India legends’ dream ODI XI has Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and a surprise selection from New Zealand

Three Indians, an Australian, and a New Zealander are among the first five players that batting great Virender Sehwag would choose to form his ideal ODI XI.

Sehwag has added Jasprit Bumrah from his own nation along with two of his former India colleagues, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

David Warner, a hard-hitting Australia opener, gets a berth thanks to Sehwag, who also, intriguingly, has found room for Glenn Phillips, a powerful batsman from New Zealand.

As one of the best white-ball cricketers of his time, Rohit wants to follow in the footsteps of MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev by becoming the third captain of India to win the ODI World Cup.

At the 2019 World Cup, Rohit had a standout performance, scoring a record-breaking five hundreds in his 648 runs.

On the other side, Kohli is closing in on Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record for the most ODI hundreds, which he established after his legendary career ended with 49 hundreds.

With 46 hundreds to his name, Kohli is regarded as one of the best batsmen to ever play the game.

Bumrah, on the other hand, is making a return after missing almost a year of competitive cricket due to a back problem. He participated in a three-match T20I series in Ireland last month, and he is now playing for India in the 2023 Asia Cup.

He is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world and will be crucial to India’s success in the world cup.

Warner will likely play in his last ODI World Cup match and would want to go out on a great note. He is recognized as one of Australia’s finest openers and has won world championships in a variety of sports.

Although Phillips has only appeared in 16 ODIs for New Zealand, he has already established himself in the T20 format with a number of outstanding batting displays.

They are all skilled cricketers who play well in one-day internationals and have the ability to carry their teams to victory. The squad would succeed once they gel, according to Sehwag, who was cited by the ICC.

The first match of the ODI World Cup, between New Zealand and England in Ahmedabad, takes place on October 5.
