On Thursday, the Indian women’s badminton team defeated Mongolia 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the team competition at the Asian Games 2023.
P V Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, won the opening singles match by edging Myagmartseren Ganbaatar 21-3 21-3 in a match between two lopsided teams.
Ashmita Chaliha defeated Kherlen Darkhanbaatar in the second singles match with a clinical score of 21-2 21-3, while Anupama Upadhyaya defeated Khulangoo Baatar in the third singles match with a commanding score of 21-0 21-2.
In the quarterfinals, Thailand will be a dangerous opponent for India.
It would be difficult for India to contain the Thailand squad since they have former world champion Ratchanok Intanon, Pornpawee Chochuwong, ranked No. 12 in the world, and Supanida Katethong, ranked No. 17 in the world.
