IPL 2024: CSK, SRH, and RCB in the playoffs. Which two groups will make it to the postseason

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is about to come to an end. It will last for 10 more days, during which the final five league games and the four crucial playoff games will take place. The playoffs begin on May 21 with the first qualifier, and the thrilling climax is slated for May 26 in Chennai. The competition for the last two playoff slots has been more fierce since the first two have already been claimed

The top contenders are the reigning champions, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the dominant Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and the revived Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who are sixth in the standings but have a higher run average than the fifth-place Delhi Capitals (DC), who are about to be officially eliminated with one game left.

With identical points, or 14, CSK and SRH are positioned third and fourth, respectively, and have a chance to finish in the top two tables. Due to their four consecutive losses, Rajasthan Royals (RR), who were the second-qualified team behind Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), had their net run rate deducted, which strengthened the case for the Yellows and the Orange Army (both of which had greater NRRs than RR’s).

In the meanwhile, RCB will need a lot of stars to line up in order to win one of the last two playoff spots. Currently, there is no doubt that CSK and SRH will be the other two qualifying teams. This is the scenario that explains how RCB, SRH, and CSK may give themselves a postseason spot.

Chennai Super Kings (NRR +0.528; P: 13, Pts: 14)
As of right now, CSK is fully committed to winning their last league stage match against RCB, which will secure a playoff berth. They may still be eligible because of the larger NRR factor, even if things don’t work out for them. They won’t be bothered even if LSG wins (12 points), but in order to make things simpler, they would have to hope that SRH loses both of its remaining games.

Hyderabad’s Sunrisers (Pts: 14, NRR +0.406; P: 12)
To put it simply, the Pat Cummins-led team will qualify if they win their last two games against GT and PBKS. Their momentum won’t be affected even if they lose one of the games; but, if they lose both, everything will depend on the NRR since it’s still possible for RCB and LSG to win their respective championship games. They will try to keep up a higher run rate to go through even if CSK defeats RCB and the Orange Army loses both games.

Bengaluru’s Royal Challengers – (P: 13, Pts: 12, NRR +0.387)
After a terrible start to the 2024 Indian Premier League, the RCB team has bounced back with a five-game winning streak and an incredible comeback. They have turned the round and are now in the race for a playoff place after losing their previous six games in a row. They need to defeat CSK in order to get 14 points in order to advance. To beat CSK’s NRR, RCB must either win by 18 runs or chase in 18.1 overs. Additionally, they would want LSG to lose their last game by a greater margin and SRH to lose both of their remaining games.
