IPL2024: Will the rain ruin the highly anticipated big CSK vs. RCB match?

May 18, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was under fear of rain, but supporters were given positive news by the venue when Bengaluru saw bright skies and sunlight on Saturday morning.

In the 68th match of the IPL 2024, RCB will play CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.

Rain is a major concern in the crucial match between RCB and CSK. This match is expected to be very important since it will determine which of the four teams in the current 17th season of the lucrative league will advance to the playoffs.

When the match kicks off at 7.30 p.m., there’s a 60% probability of rain, so the evening views are still drab. According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, there may be one or two periods of rain or thundershowers along with overall cloud cover.

Play may continue at Chinnaswamy Stadium within 30 minutes of the rain stopping since it has a strong drainage system and is one of the few grounds in India with a subsurface aeration system.

Despite losing seven of their first eight games this season, RCB is heading into this game with five straight victories and a strong chance of qualifying for the IPL playoffs for the eighth time.

Defending champions CSK, on the other hand, have been more reliable all season long and are in a stronger position to reach their 13th postseason berth. The opening match of the season saw the five-time winners defeat RCB by six wickets.

With 14 points from 13 games, Chennai Super Kings are fourth in the standings, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru are sixth with 12 points from the same number of games. Additionally, CSK’s net run rate of 0.528 is higher than RCB’s 0.387.

If they bat first and score at least 200 runs, RCB must win by at least 18 runs or in 18.1 overs if they are pursuing 200 runs in order to displace the Super Kings in the top four.

Regardless of the winning margin, Chennai Super Kings will advance to the IPL 2024 playoffs if they win the game.

When CSK and RCB faced one other in the first IPL 2024 match, the Super Kings defeated Faf du Plessis’ team by a margin of six wickets.

The following players represent the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad: Faf du Plessis (captain), Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Cameron Green, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Himanshu Sharma, Mayank Dagar, Manoj Bhandage, Tom Curran, Alzarri Joseph, Akash Deep, Saurav Chauhan, and Rajan Kumar.
