Is This the Last Run for MS? “I don’t think so,” said Robin Uthappa on MS Dhoni’s potential to continue playing for CSK when the season ends

To determine the last playoff berth in the current Indian Premier League season, the Chennai Super Kings head to Bengaluru on Saturday to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a high-stakes Southern Derby.

As the group stages come to a conclusion, both teams—who have had rather different seasons so far—will need to at least win in order to qualify for the top 4. CSK has to win to stay in fourth position; RCB needs to win by a minimum of eighteen runs if they score 200 runs, or they need to chase down 200 with eleven balls remaining to overtake the five-time winners in NRR.

It’s sure to be a tantalizing match, but there’s also a big question mark: would this be the last season where legendary and former captain of CSK MS Dhoni dons the iconic yellow jersey?

Making the playoffs in Rutuaj Gaikwad’s maiden season as captain will raise the team’s confidence and spirit, according to former CSK and RCB batsman Robin Uthappa.

Is this the last MS run? Personally, I don’t believe so,” Uthappa said.

Do they want to ruin RCB’s celebration, though? Indeed,” he said.

“I believe that Ruturaj would want to go to the next round during his maiden campaign as captain. That will give him and CSK a great boost in confidence. Long-term use is the goal here. Let’s see how that develops, Uthappa said.

However, as they prepare for the virtual quarterfinal at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB, who have won their last five games, will want to get past Chennai into the playoffs.

Uthappa, who has represented both teams at different times in his career, said that he was treated unfairly in the lead-up to the match and that the outcome would mostly depend on the toss.

I’ve played on both sides, so I guess I fall somewhere in the center. You want RCB to sort of make a comeback, given how well they recovered from their first performance. Uthappa said, “A lot relies on the throw there.
