“It would have been better if India hadn’t played both Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur,” claims the former captain of Pakistan

Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, has argued that India ought to have chosen Arshdeep Singh for the Test team rather than Shardul Thakur or Prasidh Krishna for the current series against South Africa.

During the first three days of the Test match at Centurion, India lost to South Africa in an ugly innings-based result.

With their third and fourth-choice pacers, Shardul Thakur (1/101 in 19 overs) and Prasidh Krishna (1/93 in 20 overs), all over the place, the Indian bowlers had a difficult day in the Centurion Test.

The two made a mistake in their line and length on a surface where the pacers had support. Taking full advantage of their mistakes, South Africa managed to amass 408 points. The Proteas pacemen’s swing bowling, however, left the Indian hitters looking completely helpless as they were bowled out for only 245 and 131 in their tries.

Butt said that since Arshdeep can swing the ball both ways, he would have been a better option than Shardul and Krishna.

“It would have been preferable if India had selected Arshdeep Singh on the team rather than Prasidh Krishna or Shardul Thakur. He swings the ball in both directions and bowls at a pace of around 135 kph. He may have performed well on the test. Several easy boundary balls were given by Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, Butt remarked on his YouTube account.

Jasprit Bumrah didn’t have much assistance from the opposition, but India captain Rohit Sharma trusted his bowlers to win the next game despite this.

However, Butt believes that Rohit has moved on from the World Cup final setback since he is a seasoned player with a track record of highs and lows.

If Rohit is still in pain, I don’t think so. The game is different. He is a seasoned player with many accomplishments who is almost done with his career. That was it—it was a final, and India was not going to win. He is undoubtedly over the World Cup final setback, he said.
