Kiran George of India resumed his winning streak on Thursday by defeating Weng Hong Yang of China, ranked 26th in the world, in straight games to advance to the quarterfinals of the Thailand Open Super 500 competition.
In the men’s singles round of 16 match, Kiran, the world’s 59th-ranked player, defeated his higher-ranked Chinese opponent 21-11, 21-19, in 39 minutes.
Kiran has never before advanced to the quarterfinals of a BWF World Tour Super 500 competition.
