Logan Van Beek makes a “brilliant reflex catch” to dismiss Fakhar Zaman in the PAK vs. NED matchup

In their first ODI World Cup match against Pakistan, the Netherlands made a strong impression. With the new ball, the Dutch pace unit excelled, removing three opposing batsmen in the first 10 overs. Logan Van Beek’s dismissal of Fakhar Zaman in the fourth over started the wicket-taking blitz. Zaman miscalculated the speed of a length delivery from Van Beek. The Pakistani opener was able to connect, but his timing was off. The ball struck the centre of the ball but ultimately found Van Beek’s clasp, who completed the catch without making a mistake. Zaman scored 15 runs in his brief 15-ball stint by smashing three boundaries.

Logan Van Beek put out an outstanding performance, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) posted a clip of it on Instagram. “A brilliant reflex catch by Logan van Beek,” the video’s description stated.

The admirable athleticism of Van Beek was quickly emphasized by the crowd. Regarding their domination over the Pakistani top order, they also praised the other Netherlands bowlers. Some believed the Dutch team may emerge as the tournament’s dark horse.

Pakistani supporters have confidence in skipper Babar Azam after the early dismissal of Fakhar Zaman. The top ODI hitter in the world, though, fell short of expectations. He was only able to last for 18 balls until Colin Ackermann used a slower delivery to snag him for a catch. Babar, who only added 8 runs to the total, went back to the hut.

Imam ul Haq, Zaman’s opening partner, was also out in the next over. Paul Van Meekeren’s short delivery was edged by Imam, and Aryan Dutt took a simple catch at fine leg. Imam scored 15 runs off of 19 balls, including two boundaries, in his innings.

Muhammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel’s efforts allowed Pakistan to reach their goal of 286 runs, scoring 68 runs each.

Pakistan’s bowling assault allowed the team to defeat their opponent by 81 runs. The highlight was Haris Rauf, who took three wickets, and Hasan Ali, who took two. Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, Ifthikar Ahmed, and Mohammed Nawaz all picked up a wicket each to aid their team in securing their first victory of the World Cup campaign.
