Premier League: The season’s last matchup between Manchester City and Arsenal

May 18, New Delhi The 2023–24 Premier League season has been remarkable since there was still uncertainty about the victor going into the season’s last match. After giving it their best, Manchester City and Arsenal will try to win the championship on Sunday.

One club vying to make history is Manchester City, which hopes to become the first English side to win four league championships in a row. Conversely, Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, is vying for its first league crown in twenty years.

Pep Guardiola will be able to make history with a victory against West Ham, but it will also open the way for Arsenal, who will play Everton in their season-ending match. Arsenal, who have only lost one league game in 2024 (0-2 against Aston Villa), has done almost all in their power to unseat one of the greatest teams in English football history. In contrast, City has not suffered a loss since December 7, 2023 (1-0 against Aston Villa).

The guys in red are not in the numbers; no team has ever won the Premier League while they are in second place on the last day. The previous English side to do this was Arsenal, who defeated Liverpool 0-2 in the championship match on the penultimate day of the 1988–89 season at Anfield.

“Beating any opponent in the Premier League is very tough, particularly when there is a stake that is beyond our hands. They will face a really difficult opponent, but they are a little bit closer than we are. In his news conference before the game, Arteta said, “I’m sure West Ham will be there and can help us achieve our dream.”

“We would like to be 3-0 up after 10 minutes but that’s not going to happen.”We’ll be ready for a defeat against West Ham. That is beyond any question in my mind. Two years ago, Aston Villa was in a similar situation with no meaningful games left to play, and we all know what transpired. Before the crucial match, Pep Guardiola said, “Our people have to come here and be ready from the first minute, to be with us and do it together.”
