Quinton de Kock Moves to 2nd in ICC ODI World Cup Run-getters List; Bas de Leede in Top 10

At the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday in Match 15 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Netherlands stunned South Africa by 38 runs in a game that was halted by rain. At the 50-over World Cup, this was the Netherlands’ first triumph over a country with all of its members.

In a difficult run chase of 246 runs, South Africa, who has often relied on their top order to get them off to a strong start, was defeated by the Netherlands’ bowlers early on. This turn of events proved to be the game’s turning point, and the Dutch went on to take advantage of it the rest of the way. Quinton de Kock, who had just scored two consecutive century, struggled to get going and was eventually bowled by wicketkeeper Scott Edwards as he attempted to sweep Colin Ackermann.

De Kock scored 20 off of 22 and, despite the modest total, managed to move up to second place among scorers in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with 229 runs in three games. With 248 runs, Mohammad Rizwan has maintained his position atop the leaderboard. Devon Conway is in third place with 229 runs after three games. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, is in fourth place with 217 runs in three games, while Kusal Mendis, with 207 runs in these games, rounds out the top five.

Moving on to the bowlers, Bas De Leede now has seven wickets from three games and surpasses a number of bowlers to grab the sixth slot in the ICC Cricket World Cup top wicket-takers list, tied with Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madhushanka on wickets.

With eight wickets from three games, Jasprit Bumrah has maintained his lead over Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry, who both have eight wickets. However, Bumrah is in the lead because he has allowed the fewest runs of the three to be scored.

The top five is completed by Hasan Ali and Kagiso Rabada, who each took two wickets yesterday.
