“Rural Olympics” begin

Ludhiana: The Punjab government’s ‘Rural Olympics,’ in Kila Raipur village near here, kicked off with hockey and kabaddi matches as well as 100-meter races in various age categories.

Low attendance on opening day led some visitors to speculate that the games’ current weekday scheduling may be the cause. The absence of the bullock-cart races this year is another factor. TNS
