Shubman Gill praises Sai Sudharsan as the GT openers’ star in their victory against CSK in Ahmedabad, citing “camaraderie and freeness.”

In the current Indian Premier League, the Gujarat Titans easily defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

With captain Shubman Gill and batsman Sai Sudharsan scoring massively, GT set a target of 232 runs for the visitors to chase. However, CSK was restricted to 196 runs for the loss of eight wickets, with Mohit Sharma’s three-fer being of great use.

After several tough games, Gill found his form again with a century, and he praised his opening partner, Sai Sudharsan for their 210-run partnership for the first wicket.

He spoke about the friendship between the two of them and the ease with which they built the innings that day.

Only the freedom of it. We had no goals in mind while we were batting out there. The captain said, “We were just making the most of the opportunities that were in front of us.”

“Our friendship is strong among us. We played a lot of baseball together even last year, and hitting alongside him is a lot of fun,” he said.

Gill praised experienced seamer Mohit, who has been instrumental in GT’s season-long effort.

For the last several years, Mohit bhai has taken care of things for us. He was a marvel with the ball even last year. And it’s still true this year,” the 24-year-old said.

Gill also said that the team aimed to surpass the 250-run mark at some point during the game to help with the net run rate, which is a significant factor that might influence the postseason race in the future.

“There was a moment when we believed that 250 could be taken.” They also bowled well in the last two or three overs. I just thought we were 10-15 minutes short, not for the match but for the NRR moving ahead,” he said.

Gill also gave particular recognition to the Ahmedabad audience, where he has performed very well.

“Having 100,000 supporters makes things easier,” he said in closing.
