Shubman Gill rises to the top of the ICC ODI rankings, while Mohammed Siraj also takes the top spot

India is now dominating the cricket world, there is no doubting it. So far in the competition, complete dominance has been established with seven victories out of seven.

Due to strong World Cup performances, there has been a significant shuffle in the top 10 ODI batting and bowling lists, and it is not surprising that India’s plethora of talents have left the largest mark.

One reaps what they sow, as the adage goes. And that is precisely what has happened with the Indian side as well; according to the most recent ICC ODI rankings, two Indians are presently listed as the best ODI bowler and hitter, respectively.

According to the most recent ICC update, young Indian opener Shubman Gill has dethroned Babar Azam to become the world’s top ODI batsman at this time.

In the process, Gill has surpassed Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar as the only other player from his nation to hold the top spot among ODI batters.

After a bit of a rocky start to his first World Cup campaign, the daring right-hander has scored 92 runs against Sri Lanka and 23 against South Africa in the last week, totaling 219 runs from six innings in the competition.

It was also reported that Mohammed Siraj, an Indian pacer, had surpassed Keshav Maharaj, a spinner from South Africa, to become the nation’s top ODI bowler.

Siraj moves up two ranks to take back his top spot as the ODI bowler of choice. His colleagues Mohammed Shami (moving up seven spaces to 10th), Kuldeep Yadav (moving up three spots to fourth), and Jasprit Bumrah (moving up three spots to eighth) are all in the top ten.

Despite retiring early from the World Cup owing to injury, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell moved up two positions to sixth after his heroics in Tuesday’s match against Afghanistan in Mumbai, keeping skipper Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh as the top-ranked all-rounder.
