Sunil Gavaskar Declares That Cheteshwar Pujara’s Contributions Will Be Priceless Before the World Trade Center 2023 Final

Cheteshwar Pujara was captaining Sussex in England and scoring hundreds while preparing for the ICC World Test Championship final as his India colleagues were hammering fours and sixes in the IPL 2023. After the IPL concluded, attention quickly turned to the world championship final, which will pit India against Australia starting on June 7 at London’s Oval.

Pujara has amassed 545 runs at 68.12 in eight games in the current County Championship, including three hundreds and one fifty, demonstrating his strong run of form. Naturally, he is the only player on India’s WTC final side who has played red-ball cricket in the last two months, thus his colleagues will be counting on his advice because of that expertise.

Since he has been around, Gavaskar said to Star Sports, “he will also have seen how the pitch has been behaving at The Oval.”

He may not have played at The Oval and may be in Sussex, which is not too distant from London, but he will have kept track of events, and his comments will be vital to the batting unit or perhaps the leadership, the author said.

Interestingly, Pujara shared a squad with Steve Smith from Sussex for a few games throughout the season, and Gavaskar believes the middle-order batsman from India might help his side devise a plan to keep the Australian batting superstar quiet.

Don’t forget that Pujara has been leading the Sussex squad as captain, so he undoubtedly has developed a number of tactics given that Australian Steve Smith is now a colleague, according to Gavaskar.

India qualified after placing second in the rankings and will compete in their second consecutive WTC final. The game is scheduled to start on June 7 at The Oval.
