The Indian Team Was Led Forward By Sourav Ganguly, Who Supported His Players: Mohammad Kaif

In the immediate wake of the 2000 rigging incident, Sourav Ganguly, who is largely considered as one of the best India captains, was given the task of leading the team.

The Indian side won numerous notable games under Ganguly, including the well-known 2-1 Test series victory against Australia at home.

He led India to the 2002 Champions Trophy final, when they were crowned co-winners with the tournament’s hosts Sri Lanka due to the rain’s unfortunate interference.

India made it to the ODI World Cup final in 2003 for the second time, however they came in second place behind Australia, who successfully defended their championship. A year later.

Mohammad Kaif, a former cricketer for India, believes that Ganguly was the finest captain he has had the opportunity to serve under.

Kaif, who is renowned for being one of the best fielders to have ever played the game and for hitting the game-winning run in the NatWest Series final in 2002, highlighted the traits that made Ganguly an effective leader.

When asked whose captain he enjoyed playing for the most, Kaif said on DD India, “I would say Sourav Ganguly.” He was excellent and outstanding. Being a captain requires you to be a leader, take the initiative, choose the best players, and support them. Ganguly established the group in response to the preceding events. He advanced the Indian team. He brought Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, and Virender Sehwag.

Between 2000 and 2006, Kaif participated in 13 Tests and 125 ODIs, amassing over 3000 runs across all forms, including three centuries and 20 fifties.

The 42-year-old claims that Ganguly gave his player complete support and freedom of expression.

“I remember him telling me to go out there and give it my all and that he would be there to support and back me up. What a significant remark. If your captain is Sourav Ganguly, you would feel proud to represent India as a young player. There is no question that he helped the Indian squad advance, according to Kaif.
